In Portugal I saw a book called something like ‘the politically incorrect guide to Islam’: it’s political correctness gone jihad.

I heard some rent-a-quote MP was complaining about the pink colour of the new Olympic logo: it’s political correctness gone mauve.

Philip Davies is clearly one of those lefty Cameron Tories, as pink was the colour used to represent the British Empire on the maps. Presumably he would prefer green.

I wholeheartedly agree with Sunny’s statement that the term “it’s political correctness gone mad” is over used to the point of absurdity.

I’ve said the same thing myself on a previous PP comment. What I also said at the time was that one of the ways in which the “over use” of the expression could be tackled would be by lampooning the “miserable bastards” that keep using it (and the beauty of it is that they can’t complain about the words I have used to describe them – because I could then counteract by describing them as HYPOCRITES for “not being able to take abuse when they are all to willing to dish it out).

One of the ways these people could be lampooned would be for a comedy show (Little Britain would be ideal) to have as one of its central characters someone who resembles a “miserable bastard” continously repeating that phrase.

Eventually, if that character became “well known” among the general public, then no one would dare repeat the phrase ever – simply for fear of being associated with that comedy character.

(Just as back in the 80s, some politicians DID alter their behaviour to avoid resembling their “Spitting Image” caricatures).

A good idea or what !
