I'm never getting wasted again

I can't understand why I spent the last 17 years enjoying turning into a lemon

I'm taking up yoga and drinking yoghurt and buying a yo-yo

Hi, Jai,

Good to hear the City job is going well. We are pretty heavily monitored too (obviously, its a school) but at least we get personal use. The cyberlords at the Civic had PP as a forbidden site when it started. I had to make a formal request to get it unblocked.

I've had a great bankie, daughter was up from uni and keen on our old long walk, pub lunch routine (God, students can eat). Lots of friend and family time. And I think I've finally settled on a middle-aged hobby; it probably will involve the purchase of an anorak. We tracked down some paleolithic cup and ring markings just north of Sewingshields. Got some decent pics and there seem to be thirty or forty paleolithic sites on the OS map within walking/cycling distance. So that could fill up some time between now and senescence.

Thing is, I need a new camera. I reckon you should be able to get something decent around the £200 mark, but shutter-lag really annoys me. Any recommendations from the techno-savvy?

I'm answering a couple of questions here since the "Happy Elections" thread was (appropriately) shut down.

Vikrant,

=>"hey Jai nice to see you…. how have you been?"

I'm fine, buddy. Just been working during the last couple of weekends (and not from home, either), so no time for recreational surfing. All internet & email usage is closely monitored by my employer in the City, so unfortunately I can't participate on PP during the weekdays anymore. I'm glad to see you guys and gals have been holding the fort in my absence, though.

Sunny,

I hope you finally banned that psychopath "Naxal 1849". God knows where these unhinged nutters come from. That cold-blooded hypocrite was a seriously dangerous piece of work and clearly suffering from psychiatric problems. Delusions of grandeur indeed.

*shivers* Creepy.

And as for that cheap shot about my life being "pointless", for the record I am currently doing very well indeed in all aspects of my life, thank you very much. To the extent that our psychotic friend would be screaming with jealousy if he knew what my life was really like; I'd probably be his worst nightmare and would inadvertantly push every button of insecurity and inadequacy he has.

Anyway, enough grandstanding from me. I hope everyone here is well. Nice to see most of the regulars still here and continuing to make a positive contribution to Mr Hundal's pet project, along with plenty of humorous banter. And a dozen salutes to Jagdeep for his forceful & spirited ripostes to Naxal 1849.

I agree with Sunny, the kiddie's parties are the worst. No such luck Jagdeep, it was "dry" event. Got home at 10pm and cracked myself a lonesome beer. Alas no Johnnie Walker for me this time ...

Anyway, the sun is shining now, so assembled a few of my favourite cameraphone pics as a musical montage at http://www.route79.org/journal - enjoy.

It depends Sunny, making children happy is the best fun.

As long as they're in bed by 7 so you can crack open the whisky and beers with all the other dads and uncles.

Yeah, Indian funerals are pretty dire, though I expect that is their point. Weddings on the other hand I love, but haven't been to many this year since most of my friends are already married.

to attend a kiddie’s birthday party,

But those are the worst.

At least your funerals are a little more fun, you have wakes and stuff like that, some vol au vents and plenty of Guiness. Indian funerals make you want to jump in the coffin yourself, they're so depressing and disturbing.

Weddings Yuk! have never been to a wedding that I have liked. Eat, Grandads get drunk and start singing,
then dance to disco records with the aunts, uncles and kiddies. Give me a funeral anyday. Fancy boxes
with lids on are much more interesting.

Blimey, Kensington eh? I went to a wedding at the Savoy once, rich Indian family, was really boring, couldnt relax and just drink glassy and do bhangra, it was all formal and uptight. Rich Indians need to loosen up.

I went to a wedding on Saturday in Kensington. It's the season to get married you know. Then Sunday I went to the outlaws to attend a kiddie's birthday party, you know: samosas, jalebi, tea, cake and lots of sitting around on the sofa and smiling. Today I made an omelette for breakfast and then looked out of the window at the rain.

Hi chaps. Took a stroll through Kelvingrove today and saw some ducklings with their mother, out for a 'stroll' on the pond. Quite a sight it was too. Priced some cameras and decided at the last minute that I'd sooner chew my leg off than wait in an enormous queue in Primark just to buy some work trousers. Off out tomorrow night after the speedway. I think Monday will be spent hiding from the rain unfortunately..........

So after 9 months in India, I'll be finally gracing Blighty with me presence. Goddamn i missed good ole York Road so much. Heck i even miss those inbred homeboys from Old Dean estate. My exams get over on 18th May, will be heading back on 19th. Only boring thing is that my Gujju step-dad has booked me on a stupid Mumbai-Doha-London route jost to save a few quid. Aww... Gujjus, curse them.
