Is that not the point? 42 is the answer and no-one knows what the question is? I lived for twenty odd years at 41. We are being discriminated against in this answer business. It’s a bloody lottery, I tell ya.

What is the difference between a video and reality? You said:

I do not agree with that at all. Often they just don’t understand each other, and when they do, conflict can be resolved. Mods and Rockers come to mind, when they understood they were both aliens in a strange land their conflict stopped. But scooters, really!

Thread seems to have sidetracked into a Douglas Adams appreciation society. I lived at number 42 for 20 years. Still don’t know the secret of the universe.

Nice film and I am sure such ventures which are repeated all over the country may have some beneficial effect. The reality is of course somewhat different. Yes humans do better when then they cooperate but they usually do this in groups that have shared values. Often the shared values of one group are inimical to those of another. Conflict is then inevitable.

Hi Sunny,

Thanks for mentioning the film. Douglas Adams certainly was a genius – but with instincts were fed by the simple understanding that people suceed through cooperating.

So as the film suggests: 42 may be one persons meaning of life, but it’s only useful if we have the courage to share it!

Yeah, a trilogy in four parts. I suspect that that is embedded in many peoples minds. Genius, or something more than that? Dunno.
