Sunny, putting that list together saw me through Johnny Mnemonic, thankfully. It also allowed me to re-trace my steps. My soundtrack if you like.

ZZ-Top weren't too bad, they did what they went out to do - entertain. I guess their biggest selling point were the sharply dressed women. A bit like Robert Palmer.

Others that didn't quite make the list were the Undertones' Teenage Kicks and The Beat's Mirror in the Bathroom.

As for the Sex Pistols I nearly managed to book them for our end of term school disco. Not sure if I am glad that I didn't - there'd have been blood on the dancefloor.

I remember being with Talking Heads in their dressing room when Tina Weymouth refused to come out for an encore because of some revolting creatures making disgusting gestures when they had been on stage. She finally did, but they still insisted on harrassing her.

If we're going for mottos, I'll go for my favourite 60s/70s one from the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers 'Dope will get you through times of no money, better than money will get you through times of no dope'. When I grew up, I discovered this was a lie.

Nowadays I just ask for a haircut at a regular barbers, no fancy styling. I usually get what could be called a short back and berserk, but it's cheap.

Very long hair
Very long permed hair
Oxford Bags 34" Flares
Platform shoes
Tom Baker Dr Who scarf
Furry coat
Grey/green check suit with olive army-surplus shirt and basketball pumps (no such thing as trainers)

Wanted but didn't have

Loons

With embarassment

Very short hair

Kulvinder - Kate Bush
Maybe I should have added a bit of hard core techno and early Pick Floyd to Kulvy.

Are you stalking me! have you seen my playlist. Seriously?!

To round things off this isn't a definitive DIDs type list, because i can't really pin anything down but what ive been listening to over the past few months and that comes to mind right now,

The Clash (bit everything they did),
Bernstein's Ode to freedom (not the technically best version but the most evocative),
Black box recorder (England made me and Facts of life in particular),
Blondie (Union City Blues),
New pornographers (Twin Cinema, Sing me spanish techno in particular),
Rabbi Sergill (Bulla Ki Jan)
Amy Winehouse's rendition of valerie
NOFX (terrible singing though heh)
Christina Aguilera Hurt(snowflakes remix)

The Kate Bush one is the most interesting, im associated with her on more occasions than anyone else whenever these types of questions come up. Obviously i like her, but you're basically saying im a little nuts...right :(

I can’t believe no-one has taken the piss over my confession that I downloaded Eye of the Tiger (for my marathon training see). Still, talk about an open goal!

Because I suspect we're all hiding worse. One of the first tapes I bought to listen was ZZ Top! Beat that!

Oh, and I remember wearing super-baggy jeans at school. In my defence, everyone did it at the time :(

I can't believe no-one has taken the piss over my confession that I downloaded Eye of the Tiger (for my marathon training see). Still, talk about an open goal!

Anyway, I thought long and hard about this while running today, and here's a first stab at 8 revealing Desert Island Discs. It's not definitive.

1) Money in my pocket -- Dennis Brown
2) I know you got soul -- Bobby Byrd
3) Going underground - The Jam
4) Ghost Town -- The Specials
5) Still Dre -- Dr Dre
6) You've got the love -- Candi Staton
7) As - Stevie Wonder
8) Dancing in outer space -- Atmosfear
9) Joy and pain - Maze
10) Shine on you crazy diamond -- Pink Floyd
11) Under the bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
12) Tears -- Frankie Knuckles
13) Shit, I can't stop. This is impossible
