In this country bumming fags has now been outlawed under certain circumstances. What other liberties are to be taken away from us.

Is this the case in the USA as well.

BTW - did anyone see the Sunday before lasts Top Gear? - their Florida-New Orleans road trip.

"He’s got a slender nose."

I say this because I look at everyone's profiles, especially noses. And he has a nice nose. But he's not all that, though.

"Well, you should. By all means keep ass, butt and can; but add bum for those special moments."

Ok. And I will also incorporate "knickers," "fag," and "loo" into my vocabulary.

So, the next time I talk to my American friends, I will say, for example:

"Are my knickers sagging at my bum? Oh, god, they are. I'm so stressed that I need a fag. Let's go to the loo for a quick fag."

Did I do ok?

Hey, if I ever come to England, I'd fit right in!

Is this the Tariq Ramadan that all of you are salivating over?

http://www.swissinfo.org/xobix_media/images/sri/2005/sriimg20051111_6233092_1.jpg

Cause I think he's ok. He's got a slender nose.

Oh, speaking of noses, for the past two days I've been watching celebrity shows on plastic surgery. One of the shows was called "Plastic Surgery Laid Bare" (morbid curiosity got the best of me). The other show was on people celebrities who got surgery. And yet another show was on Extremely Skinny famous people, like Posh Spice and another UK model who was a size 14 and now is a size 6.

All of the commentators had British accents- like they were editors of fashion mags in the UK, etc. All of the by passers they interviewed were British women who said, "If my bum was a bit droopy, I'd get surgery."

We don't say "bum" in the US.

Jusk ask one of the governors at the school. They should know the amount. A Governor on the finance committee should know for certain - if they don't then show your disappointment. You should have at least some Parent Governors that you can ask if your not on speaking terms with the headteacher :-). Its not confidential information, or at least I hope it isn't because I tell any parent who cares to ask me. Afterall they make up the minds on who to vote for based on this sort of information - or at least I like to think they might.

In fact I would recommend anyone who is concerned about their children's education to become a governor at their school. There are usually places vacant. One gets a good insight into how it all works and one can make a difference, especially when it come to hiring new staff.

In your own time El Cid - I would genuinely be interested to know the primary school funding from a parent who actually asks. The data we get from Government sources is so unfathomable that I would not like to base my rants on it :-)

El cid

Lets deal in specifics and not statistics that are too vague and no calcs shown.

Next time you go to your children's school ask how much per head does your children's primary school get towards its budget. Budgets are based on the pupil role. So its easy to work out, but the LEA should be able to give you the exact figure. There is additional money available based on the age and state of the buildings and is meant for maintenance but this is not the major factor.

This would be a specific example and we can compare. I can find out the London weighting and then we compare OK?

Our rural school gets £2,505 per head per year. This has to pay for everything, staff, books, etc - the full monty including PFI payment of £44k per year. As a PFI school we get no maintanence help.
